DESIGN OVERVIEW ::

We had SO much fun over here at Porche & Co. creating these spaces in Ashlee’s gorgeous new build home (ashleeknichols)! Her house is going to be full of classic elements with warm tones and textures throughout, with a mixture of some modern pieces. It is going to be both enchanting and welcoming- full of timeless warmth and cohesive interest. She is taking the phrase “Pinterest worthy” to a new level and we are so blessed to be a part of it ❤️ You can find an overview of each space we have designed so far below::

FLEX SPACE Detail::

When designing Ashlee’s Flex Space that is off of her living room, we wanted to achieve a timeless transitional design filled with contrasting pieces and natural, warm textures throughout. We wanted this ‘flex’ space to still be very functional and usable for her family to relax, with lots of options for comfortable seating.

We grounded the space with a neutral, chunky jute rug that will create a bright and textured backdrop for the space. For seating in this flex space, we selected a large, plush sectional that will be able to accommodate a lot of people comfortably. We added a leather swivel chair to bring in some warm tones and texture. We chose one of our absolute favorite oversized coffee tables for this space which instantly adds some woven texture while being an incredible focal point in the center of the space.

For storage and functionality, we chose a stunning darker console that adds some contrast and a modern element. To bring in some character and warmth, we placed a wooden narrow bench with a piece of textured art above. We love the dimension and interest these pieces bring to the design!

MASTER BEDROOM Detail::

We wanted Ashlee’s Master Bedroom to be a place of relaxation and retreat, as well as feel cohesive with the rest of the spaces in her home! We love how bright and airy this space feels with some modern, contrasting pieces throughout.

The warm, vintage rug grounds the space and brings some subtle pattern and contrast. We chose a beautiful white, upholstered bed which really creates a bright focal point in the room. A moodier piece of art sits above the bed to add some contrast. The darker nightstands add some darker, moodier contrast against the lighter bed frame and have a beautiful woven texture on the bottom. We added a textured wooden console that is absolutely breathtaking and can add extra storage and functionality in the space. We also created a cozy, warm sitting area with a statement, velvet accent chair and ottoman. No bedroom design is complete without a large statement floor mirror — so we chose this modern, arched mirror which will help to reflect natural light back into the space and make it feel larger and brighter!

Throughout the bedroom space, we added various pieces and decor which will make a huge statement and add interest and dimension. This large faux maple tree is so life-like in person, and brings a lively element to the space. We also chose some of our favorite woven, lidded baskets that can be used for storage while still looking put together and beautiful.

LIVING ROOM Detail::

When designing Ashlee’s Living Room, we wanted to achieve a timeless transitional, classic look with interesting focal points found throughout the space for the eye to not only be drawn to, but also to rest on. The goal in this room was to create a welcoming, warm functional space for her family to relax, enjoy each other’s company and make memories in with friends and family alike. We filled the space with natural textures and warm neutral tones to give some contrast against some of the cooler elements such as the fireplace and windows.

We layered two rugs in this room to create subtle dimension and pattern that will provide a nice cohesive backdrop to ground the space. The warm natural texture of the lower jute rug creates a solid but textured backdrop for the more colorful but muted 8x10 wool rug a top. We selected a wool rug for the Living Room due to wool’s resilient and durable qualities. Wool rugs can withstand the elements of life for many, many years without showing signs of wear. They can often be more expensive, but truly hold their value for years to come and are worth the investment in a high-traffic space.

For seating in Ashlee’s Living Room, we selected two clean lined sofas with a bench seat cushion to lend maximum comfort for relaxing. The bench seat functionality allows for maximum comfort while reclining and relaxing as you avoid the cushion separation of a standard sofa. We utilized two leather recliners that Ashlee had already purchased in the design to bring in some warm contrast and another texture in the space. We chose one of our favorite round oversized coffee tables for this space. The warm wood and texture creates a nice, bright focal point below the round, metal chandelier.
