Porche Tips & Tricks: How to Easily Switch Up Your Decor for Winter
How to Easily Switch Up Your Decor for Winter :: Porche & Co. Tips & Tricks
Now that Halloween has passed and it’s officially the month of November, it is time for all things HOLIDAY! It might be a little soon, but we are already thinking about packing up that fall decor. Today, we’re giving you all the tips and tricks for how to easily switch up your decor for the Winter season. We are firm believers in working smarter, and not harder. We decorate for seasons by bringing in natural objects and seasonal color palettes. Making small, easy changes in your home and adding subtle touches of Winter and Holiday can make a BIG impact!
We are showing you four different spaces in your home and how to switch up your decor in that space to incorporate winter and holiday. On the left, you will find the space decorated for Fall. On the right, you will find the space after making small changes to bring in all the Winter vibes. We hope this gives you all the inspiration for your own home as we head into this holiday season!
:: In an Entryway ::
In an entryway space or console table, it can be easy to add subtle Winter touches while keeping most of your main decor objects, such as the mirror, baskets, and table lamp! This space is styled for Winter by switching out the vases and opting for a darker, moodier vase. Instead of natural dried Fall stems, trade them out for some faux cedar branches. We added brass candlesticks for warmth and a set of stone Christmas trees for a Holiday touch and texture. Next, switch out the throw blanket for a faux fur blanket for added coziness and switch out the throw pillow for a pop of color.
:: On a Front Porch ::
A perfect place to start adding Winter touches to your home is your front porch - what better way to set the mood for your entire house! First, changing up your wreath will create a focal point and make a huge impact on your front door! We opted for a faux cypress wreath with berries and pinecones for some added color. Next, choose a doormat that has a ‘Holiday vibe’ such as this ‘fa la la la’ one. Switching up the outdoor rug that goes underneath the doormat is also a great way to change up your decor and add dimension. We love this black plaid one to bring in some darker colors! Last, we simply switched out the plants in the textured planters with Winter greenery: a poinsettia and faux pine trees. We love the holiday touches these simple changes bring!
:: In a Living Room ::
Another space that you can bring subtle Winter touches is your living room! First, switch out your pillow covers and opt for moodier tones and prints like the ones above. If you like to bring holiday touches in through your pillows, you can choose a tartan plaid like we did here! We chose to pair the plaid with a dark stripe and a woven knit to bring in warmth and contrast. While we kept the black vase on the coffee table, we traded out the stems for juniper greens which will bring a lot of texture to your space. In the bowl, we added glass ornaments as a Winter filler and holiday touch.
:: In a Bedroom ::
An often overlooked area when styling for Winter is a bedroom. Yet even in this space you can add subtle touches of Winter without overdoing it! On this dresser, we changed out the artwork for a Winter framed sketch. This is a super easy and affordable way to bring in different seasons throughout your home. Changing out faux plants is another simple way to change decor. We opted for a faux pine branch drop in plant to place in the same textured vase. Last, we traded out the teak wooden bowl for a set of glass Christmas trees for texture and dimension.
