How to Keep Your Flowers Fresh

pORCHE TIPS AND TRICKS :: KEEP YOUR FLOWERS FRESHER FOR LONGER

I think we can all agree that there is nothing more disappointing when it comes to fresh floral arrangements than having them begin to wilt and die just days after styling them in our home. That’s why we’ve decide to put together our favorite tips and tricks to keeping your flowers vibrant and fresh longer!

Although vodka may be more commonly found in our favorite cocktails, it is also an amazing way to add vibrancy and longevity to you fresh stem arrangements! It works as an antibacterial killing off bacteria that could grow on the stems. All you need to do is add a spoonful directly to the fresh water your plants are in!

Another tip is to keep your blooms out of direct sunlight, and away from any exposure to heat- such as stoves and ovens. Heat will dry them out and make them wilt faster.

Next, don’t forget to cut the stems! Ideally, cut 1-2 inches off and be sure to cut at an angle. This allows for better water absorption since they’re not sitting flat against the bottom of the vase.

Our last tip is to change out the water every 2-3 days and remove any dead or dying flowers to ensure your flowers are sitting in fresh clean water, and remove any bacteria from the dead or dying flowers spreading to the fresh ones!
