How to style Centerpiece Decor :: Porche & Co. Tips & Tricks

We have another exciting design “How To” today! We are sharing our tips and tricks for styling centerpiece decor — something we get asked about so often. Styling a centerpiece for your dining room or kitchen space can seem overwhelming, but we’ve got you covered with our simple tips and tricks.

We have come up with different and simple ways to style centerpiece decor (for BOTH round and rectangle tables!) to give you some inspiration for your own space. We have linked all of the different designs and decor items we used below! Which option suits you and your space the best?!

Round Centerpiece Decor :: Option 1

For this centerpiece option, we kept the decor super simple yet full of texture and interest! To start, we added this beautiful oversized white bowl as the main focal point. We filled the bowl with faux moss spheres and draped black glass beads out of the side of the bowl for added dimension.

Tip 1: An oversized bowl makes a great decor piece and focal point for a centerpiece. Filling the bowl with faux greenery or wooden spheres adds great interest and texture, while also providing some color. Switching up the filler inside of the bowl is an easy and simple way to change up your centerpiece for different seasons or holidays, without having to do much!

Tip 2: Here at Porche & Co., we love using glass or wooden beads anywhere we can! They are the perfect piece to drape out of a bowl or vase and they easily add dimension and contrast with the pop of color. They provide so much character in such a simple way!

Round Centerpiece Decor :: Option 2

Another simple yet beautiful and classic option for styling your centerpiece! We started with this large statement piece — an oversized and textured vase. Then we added lots of warmth and height with these long faux stems. Making a statement with your centerpiece does not always require much decor!

Tip 3: We always love adding realistic faux greenery to a centerpiece. These faux stems create such a nice warm focal point on your table, and also serve to add height! Greenery and florals always help create an inviting and welcoming feel!

Round Centerpiece Decor :: Option 3

Maybe you have a larger space or table for more decor?! We love this centerpiece option with lots of layers, decorative pieces, and interest! We started with this grouping of 3 - two vases and a smaller bowl. We finished by adding tall faux stems into one of the vases for added warmth and height!

Tip 4: Always remember “The Rule of Three”: groups of threes are very pleasing to the eye, so try to create little vignettes and groupings in threes which will add layers and dimension. Here, we opted for two vases and a smaller bowl.

Tip 5: Choose decor objects of varying heights, colors, and textures — this will create depth and interest! The mixture of terracotta and wood and the contrast in colors really provides a lot of dimension to this centerpiece, while staying neutral and classic.

Round Centerpiece Decor :: Option 4

This centerpiece is styled in such an attainable way! We added three vases of varying heights but similar in nature to create a really cohesive and simple look! Adding a pop of greenery into one will add some warmth to the dark vases.

Tip 6: If your dining or kitchen space already has a lot of interest and decor, stick with the ‘less is more’ rule of thumb! Three vases of similar texture or color, but with varying heights, creates the perfect cohesive and clean look. Objects with various heights and sizes will create enough added interest but keep your space simple!

Rectangle Centerpiece Decor :: Option 5

For a rectangle dining room table, a lot of the same design principles apply as a round table! For this centerpiece, we used a large statement vase with tall faux stems to create a main focal point. We added a vintage dark bowl next to the vase for added interest!

Tip 7: Even for a larger, rectangle shaped dining room table, you don’t need much decor to make a statement! For a larger table, you might want to use a bigger vase as a centerpiece in order to cover more area.

Rectangle Centerpiece Decor :: Option 6

To style this centerpiece, we added two larger statement vases of different materials and textures to really create some dimension and interest! In one of the vases, we added natural branches which provide so much texture and add height!

Tip 8: An alternative option to faux greenery is natural stems or branches! We love the way these branches bring so much texture but still serve to add height. Opting for branches or natural stems is a great way to bring in a more fall/winter feel to your centerpiece decor!

Rectangle Centerpiece Decor :: Option 7

If you are looking for a more detailed centerpiece with lots of interest, this design is perfect for you! We started with a larger wood vase, filled with faux greenery for a pop of color! We added a darker mango wood bowl for dimension and interest. We finished this centerpiece with brass candlesticks of varied heights for warmth. We love how the brass candlesticks really brighten up the space, while the darker pieces bring so much contrast!

Tip 9: Candles and candlesticks can bring so much warmth and coziness to your space! They also create a lot of variation in height which brings interest and dimension to your table.

Rectangle Centerpiece Decor :: Option 8

This centerpiece has touches of coastal influence which would make it a perfect setup for a beach or lake house! We created a grouping of three with two larger glass votives of varied height and a natural grapewood branch. We love how the branch brings a lot of natural texture and interest while the candles in the votives create warmth!

Tip 10: We love using natural pieces such as this dried grapewood branch as decor pieces! These natural pieces provide a lot of texture and dimension while remaining neutral in color. The varied and unique shape of branches like this also bring so much interest!

Rectangle Centerpiece Decor :: Option 9

For this centerpiece, we kept the decor simple and classic! We styled it with a black vintage dough bowl as the focal point. We added wooden spheres to fill the dough bowl and added greenery spilling out for a pop of color and warmth!

Tip 11: Using vintage pieces like this dough bowl keeps your decor and centerpiece timeless and classic! These vintage pieces will never go out of style and can be used in so many different spaces. A dough bowl is a great way to fill with seasonal or holiday decor, and always easy to switch out season after season for a fresh look!
