How to Style Faux Stems for Spring

adding greenery and faux stems is an easy way to breathe life and warmth into your home. today, we are sharing some of our favorite faux stems and vases for spring along with our tips for styling them in your home. We frequently get asked a lot of questions on this subject- what faux stems should i choose? which vase would look best with my stems? how can i make sure they look life-like? choosing the PERFECT stems can be a little tricky, but we are here to provide you with some helpful tips to make this an enjoyable task!
HOW TO CHOOSE FAUX STEMS :: Tip ONE
WHEN SELECTING FAUX STEMS, WE PREFER TO CHOOSE THOSE WITH LIFE-LIKE FEATURES. WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FAUX FLOWERS or stems, STAY AWAY FROM THOSE WITH FRAYED EDGES. those tend to look more fake than real. INSTEAD, look for flowers and stems that vary in color throughout the leaves and florals. Real flowers and stems have a variety of colors on each leaf and petal. IT’S IMPORTANT TO CHOOSE STEMS stems that have a variety of leaf, flower and petal sizes. THIS WILL MAKE THEM APPEAR MORE REAL. VEINS of differing colors can also add a life like feature to faux stems. Consider mixing two different types of stems as well- we love mixing a base with leaf like stems and a unique pop such as smaller florals scattered in to give it a well-arranged look.

HOW TO STYLE FAUX STEMS :: Tip two
WHEN YOU GET YOUR FAUX STEMS, OFTEN TIMES THEY ARE A LITTLE FLAT FROM BEING PACKAGED AND SHIPPING. BE SURE YOU Play with the branches and bend the leaves to give them more life. THIS WILL FLUFF THEM UP and help achieve a natural shape. make sure your faux stems are hitting at different heights for a natural, balanced look.
oftentimes the stems will be TALLER than your vase. to get them to your desired height, either bend the stems or use wire cutters to cut them to your desired length. They top of the stems should vary in height within your vase but never more than about 2-5” from each other in height.
IF YOU ARE CREATING A FAUX FLOWER ARRANGEMENT, WE RECOMMEND WORKING WITH ODD NUMBERS AS THIS IS MORE PLEASING TO THE EYE. PURCHASE THESE STEMS IN ODDS LIKE 1, 3, OR 5. The more stems you use, the greater the impact. If you are going for a minimal feel, use less.
VASES FOR FAUX STEMs :: Tip tHREE
WHEN IT COMES TO CHOOSING A VASE FOR YOUR FAUX STEMS, WE OFTEN LIKE TO CHOOSE A VASE WITH TEXTURE AND INTEREST RATHER THAN A TYPICAL GLASS VASE. WOVEN VASES, TEXTURED BOWLS, Baskets, metal pails, and pitchers all pair beautifully with faux stems and create a MODERN CLASSIC FEEL TO YOUR SPACE.
be sure not to let your vase overwhelm your stems or vice versa. Always make sure to fill your vase with enough greenery, so it looks full. it’s important to Leave some breathing room between the stems so your vase won’t look overfilled.
