We always have SO much fun sharing our design how-tos with you each week. This week we are sharing, “How to Style Kitchen Countertops & Dining Table Centerpieces”! These trends focus around some of our tried and true tricks that we use in our client’s homes and outdoor spaces in hopes that you can easily take them back and implement them in your own homes. For our last theme we shared, ‘How to Design and Style a Modern Classic Nursery’. You can read that post here.

We get asked about Modern Transitional styling all the time. It is inviting, timeless and full of interest. Styling a home can seem like a daunting task, but we have a few simple design trends that make it much easier than it seems…your kitchen counters, island, breakfast nook and dining table will look amazing with a modern classic and timeless feel that looks professionally styled in NO time with our simple tips below!

When considering how to style a centerpiece for your countertops or dining table there a a few tried and true tips we like to keep in mind.

When thinking about styling a centerpiece there are really two different ways- a round centerpiece or a rectangular centerpiece. When styling a round centerpiece we like to think in a triangular group. While with the rectangular centerpiece it is a more linear design.

We love to use vintage touches in our decor while styling a centerpiece. A vintage vase, with stems that can easily be changed out for the seasons, a vintage bowl, or a wooden riser is a great place to start. We also love keeping things functional so if you use salt and pepper add those to your centerpiece as well.

We are loving paper mache bowls (here are our favorite amazon bowls) with draped beads a top and a tray underneath to tie everything together. Using a small wooden riser is a great way to elevate other objects wether it be a decor object, a picture frame, or a vase and create height and dimension within your centerpiece. Using a candle is a great layer and adds inviting warmth to your centerpiece. We love to keep everything clean, simple and functional. We are going to dive into more of our favorite tips below.

Be sure to check out some of our professionally styled curated collections. Showing some of these timeless looks we love and how to incorporated them in to styling your centerpieces. Below are a few of our recent favorites. You can dive into our Kitchen curated collections and dining room curated collections here.

Tip #1:: Incorporate modern and vintage items in your centerpiece

Adding ceramic vases, lamps or utensil holders to your centerpiece can add texture, height and interest to the space. A vintage piece of art can tie everything together.

TIP #3::Add a bowl with draped beads and salt and pepper shakers

We love to use a bowl with draped beads to pull together a textured dimensional styled centerpiece along with salt and pepper shakers to make it functional on the table.

TIP #5::Add a tray, or serving tray under layered decor

adding a wooden or woven tray, a serving tray or a charcuterie board under your decor pieces will bring them all together for a more finished structured look while anchoring all the centerpiece items.

TIP #4::Stack books or a wooden pedestal for added dimension with an object on top for visual interest

Stacking books or using s wooden pedestal as a part of your centerpiece with decor items, wooden links, or a picture frame and a candle adds height, dimension and interest.

TIP #6:add a candle to your centerpiece for an inviting cozy element

A candle is a perfect item for layering and a great way to create a cozy inviting feel in your home. A candle adds warmth, ambiance and an inviting scent which we love in a kitchen.
