Porche Picks :: Pairing Upholstered Beds with the perfect Nightstands
In this weeks ‘Porche Picks’ curated collection, we are sharing tips on selecting an upholstered bed and the perfect nightstands to go with it! We are loving the upholstered bed trend over here at Porche & Co. Upholstered beds offer a stylish, comfortable addition to your bedroom, while also maintaining durability and ease of cleaning. Their modern classic sophisticated aesthetic is sure to create a subtle interest piece in any bedroom.
When it comes to choosing a nightstand, there are some important “rules of thumb” to keep in mind. First and foremost, you'll want to ensure the correct height of your nightstand/side table for both aesthetic and functionality purposes. A good “rule” is that the top of the nightstand should be around the same height as the top of your mattress. A few inches shorter or even taller is okay, but you won't want to go more than 3" taller or lower than the top of your mattress. This ensures that while in bed, it will be easy to reach over and grab your drink, place your phone or turn off your alarm clock :) A standard height bed has a mattress that is normally about 23"-26" above the ground (usually around 25") so a nightstand within this range of height is a safe choice. If you have a taller bed and a mattress at 28"-33" high, plan accordingly and go for a nightstand within the same range of height.
Now that we have height determined, let's talk style! Like we said, upholstered beds are all the rage right now. And great news- they are TIMELESS! So they won't go out of style in a few years. For this reason, lately we have been putting upholstered beds in almost all our client's bedrooms. They are simple, clean and timeless. These features makes them easy to pair with the perfect nightstands! Like the bed frame, the nightstands should also maintain a simple and clean aesthetic with straight lines and smooth consistent tones; however, utilizing a different material will create just enough contrast to introduce subtle interest between the nightstands and the bed.
