OVERVIEW ::
This week we wanted to feature one of our designs for a client in Houston, Texas. Our clients bought their beautiful home a few years ago and knew they wanted to add some curb appeal, but they had self proclaimed "design paralysis". This happens to everyone...you have all these grand plans on fixing up a space, but then once you live in it for a while you’re not sure what you should do and then feel stuck! Sometimes all it takes is a pair of fresh eyes to see the space to help you bring it to life.
When conversing with this client, they really wanted to update their portico. They were also open to the idea of painting the brick, but they were nervous about the upkeep if they chose to paint the brick. This is actually a common misconception. Did you know that painting brick that’s still in good condition can actually help preserve it? This was an early technique used to preserve the brick itself. If you hire the right painters and they paint it properly, you create a seal or barrier on your home which actually protects it from the elements.
We used Sherwin Williams Alabaster White and Tricorn Black for the shutters for a timeless color palette. By changing out the portico to this stately design and adding a metal roof you get a much more updated and classic appearance to the entire house. Simple and clean landscaping can go a long way as it does in this design. The compacta holly creates a beautiful hedge in front of the silver dollar hydrangea. We loved working with our clients on this design and can't wait to see the project unfold over the next few months!
