OVERVIEW ::
Today, we are sharing one of our recent Exterior Design Transformations! For this design, we wanted to breathe new fresh and ‘modern’ life into the exterior of this home and add some curb appeal.
We recommended painting the siding and brick and trim in Sherwin Williams Alabaster White to give it a bright, updated and inviting feel. Because the house is not huge, the white will help it really pop against it’s surroundings. To update the windows, we recommended new black window grids or to paint the existing grids Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. This color creates a nice contrast against the Alabaster white color further lending itself to the modern aesthetic we are trying to achieve.
We added gables to the 2 largest A-frame pitches of the house to bring in some warm decorative elements. It is important to have contrasting warm and cool tones to create a very cohesive look. To continue the warm wood accents, we chose a new front door with a lighter wood stain along with a coordinating warm wood garage door. We are suggesting a mix of minwax Special Walnut and Weathered Oak to stain the door and garage. We always recommend utilizing the same stain colors throughout to ensure cohesiveness and a simple aesthetically pleasing flow. We added lighting around the garage doors to create a focal point framing the gorgeous wood garage.
For landscaping on this home, we recommended using plants like: Encore Azalea, Loropetalum, Holly or Boxwoods, Coppertop Sweet Viburnum, Dwarf Fountain Grass, seasonal flowers like pansies, and black mulch. This will help to draw the eye in against the white base of the house creating height and lending subtle pops of color.
