We get asked about Modern Transitional styling all the time. It is inviting, timeless and full of interest. Styling a home can seem like a daunting task, but we have a few simple design trends that make it much easier than it seems. Your Entryway will look amazing with a modern classic and timeless feel that looks professionally styled in NO time with our simple tips below! We can’t think of a better way to welcome friends and family into your home.

When considering how to design an inviting modern classic entryway there a a few tried and true tips we like to keep in mind. You want to make a welcoming statement & first impression.

An entryway can be a smaller space, but no matter the size, it is still the perfect space to make a huge impact as it is the first area that guests see as they enter your home. You can set the tone for the rest of your home by making a big statement in a smaller space with woven textures, mixtures of metals, and decor pieces of interest and dimension. Don’t be afraid to use pops of color through faux plants, throw pillows and artwork!

We love to employ vintage touches in our decor while styling an entryway. A vintage vase, with stems that can easily be changed out for the seasons, a vintage bowl, or a wooden riser is a great place to start. We also love keeping things functional with a lamp and baskets for storage. If you prefer balance adding double lamps on your console is a great way to add a welcoming feel to your space as well as adding function. We also love having a lamp on one side and balancing with something of equal height and weight to the other side.

We are loving paper mache bowls (here are our favorite amazon bowls) with draped beads and a tray underneath to tie everything together. Using a small wooden riser is a great way to elevate other objects wether it be a decor object, a picture frame, or a vase and create height and dimension. Using a candle is a great layer and adds inviting warmth to your space. We love to keep everything clean, simple and functional. We are going to dive into more of our favorite tips below.

Be sure to check out some of our professionally styled curated collections. Showing some of these timeless looks we love and how to incorporated them in to styling your entryway. Below are a few of our recent favorites. You can dive into our entryway collections here.

Tip #1:: have a focal point

Starting by choosing a focal point. If you have a space for a large object to hang above your console table or bench, this will create a focal point. You can use mirrors to brighten up small spaces and to make it feel larger. Mirrors are a great focal point in any space! We also love to use artwork to tie the various tones within a space together to create a cohesive feel. We prefer to keep the artwork simple while still creating interest and a nice focal point. Layered framed artwork or family photographs can also create a nice modernized or personalized focal point.

TIP #3::make sure you layer

Layer the selected items and objects on your console table or bench to add visual interest and complexity. This helps add more character, but be sure not to overcrowd. Too many items can look cluttered. At Porche & Co. we prefer to stick with simple more neutral items full of texture and our modern classic look.

TIP #5::Add a rug for texture

Adding a rug to your entryway space adds so much dimension, texture and a warm inviting feel. At Porche & Co. we like to keep with our modern classic rug choices that you can shop here. A neutral rug can still add the pop that you are looking for without being too overwhelming.

TIP #2:: Add dimension

Once you have a focal point, you can choose surrounding decor objects to add height and dimension on a console. Choose objects of varying heights to create depth and interest. This could be vases, lamps, stems, etc. We typically like to chose a lamp on one side and a vase with faux stems on the opposite side. One or two items ( like in our Home Decor Objects Shop) can also be layered in front of the larger main items, even on top of stacked of books to create additional dimension. If styling a bench in your entryway we love to use textured pillows, throw blankets and baskets to create dimension.

TIP #4::add storage & warmth

We love adding a storage place in your entryway with baskets under your console table, or beside a bench. Adding a blanket to these baskets, or on top of a bench with a few pillows or even books stacked next to a basket will really add warmth to your entry space.

TIP #6:consider a statement light fixture

Adding a statement light fixture to your entryway is the perfect way to bring everything together with a finished look. Having a statement fixture in the first room guests see sets the tone for your whole house.
