EMILY’S LAUNDRY ROOM Refresh Reveal
We added this wing of our house on 5 years ago when we did our large home renovation. i always liked our laundry room well enough, but i didn’t love it. it didn’t pop to me and was rather bland. i still loved the original tile flooring that i selected along with the butcher block countertops and the copper sink, so i knew i wanted to keep these elements. i decided what the room was really lacking was some color (shocking i know, but i am really into muted vintage colors lately) and some cohesive decor. i wanted the decor to err on the functional side as this is a room we use often…
well we should use it often. it became a cluttered drop zone mess. we used the washing machine and dryer in here, but that was about it. i was determined to clean it up and keep the decor minimal and functional so that we would actually start using the room for laundry! it has only been a few weeks since the transformation but so far, so good! my husband and i love doing laundry in here now. we have everything we need at a hand’s reach. the girls hang their backpack and coats on the hooks in here so they can easily grab them in the morning as they head out the door!
what i love the most about this transformation is how a few small changes (paint, decor & swapping the overhead light) made such a big difference in this little room. sometimes this is all that a space needs- it doesn’t have to be a grand renovation where you rip everything out and start over with the new. I ENCOURAGE YOU THIS SPRING TO LOOK FOR ROOMS THAT JUST NEED A LITTLE REFRESH. SET A TIMELINE AND A BUDGET (I SPENT UNDER $500 IN THIS ROOM) THEN GET TO WORK. I BET YOU’LL BE AMAZED BY THE END RESULT 🤍
*The paint color that we used is Sherwin Williams Cornwall Slate. it is an amazing muted vintage-y green with beige undertones. THE CABINETS AND WALL COLOR IS SHERWIN WILLIAMS HERON PLUME. thE FLOOR TILE IS FROM HOME DEPOT WITH A PLATINUM GROUT.*
