Powder Room Refresh
When decorating or upgrading your home, your first thoughts may land primarily on larger spaces such as your dining room, living room, or master bedroom. However, one of our favorite spaces to decorate are bathrooms! Upgrading your bathrooms, be it just a smaller half bathroom or your master bath, gives you the opportunity to take a basic bathroom and turn it into a luxurious modern classic space. Today, we are sharing some of our favorite tips for updating your powder bathroom!
For lighting fixtures, we love statement sconces. They immediately add ambiance and flare to the space, and are available in endless sizes, colors, styles, and price points β making them an easy and affordable way to upgrade the lighting in your powder bathroom. We suggest adding sconces with golden or black finishes and touches of filigree for a classic vintage touch. Our top picks for sconces are:
Adding modern classic touches to your powder room will immediately add a sense of opulence and lavishness to the space. Consider replacing your builder grade bathroom vanity and adding a new vanity to really bring character to the space! Adding a unique vanity will give the space a focal point to be designed around. Also, donβt be afraid to mix metals, which will help add interest to the space. Select one metal and finish for the hardware on the sink for the pulls/knobs and faucet spout, and mix in different metals and finishes for the frames of the artwork. Our favorite hardware:
For wall detailing, we love playing with tile heights to add texture and interest to a space. One unexpected and modern way of using tiles is by creating a tile backsplash that covers 3/4th of the wall. Continuing with the concept of mixing colors and details, we love adding floor tiles in contrasting darker colors and designs to break up the space. To add detailing, we love adding a surprising pop of print and design with wallpaper. Be sure to pick a design with tie in the colors of the wall paint, as well from the backsplash and floor tiles to maintain harmony and cohesion within the space. Add touches of decor to the space with baskets, ceramic vases, and artwork to really bring dimension and interest! Consider adding shelves above the toilet for added dimension as well as functional storage for things like extra toilet paper. Adding in these little details also offer an opportunity to bring texture and warmth into the space as well as keeping the space organized. We also love adding realistic faux greenery to the space. This breathes life into the space while also adding height and dimension. We love adding a candle to bathrooms for added ambiance and to always keep the space smelling fresh!
